She is easily recognised by her short black hair, brown eyes, raccoon ears and tail, and a speech habit of ending sentences with the word noda. In the anime series she travels with the calm and practical Fennec, searching for Kaban because she suspects her of taking a treasured hat. Fennec often calls her Arai-san, a nickname drawn from the Japanese word for raccoon, which has led to fan depictions of her washing objects or showing an unusual interest in cleaning. Fan artists usually portray her with Serval and Fennec, emphasising her animal features, her determined but slightly stubborn personality, and her habit of lifting her clothes to show her navel. Her design also includes a side-tie bikini bottom and a visible collarbone, details that frequently appear in swimsuit-themed artwork.
