Tomioka Giyuu is a supporting character in the manga and anime series Kimetsu no Yaiba, known in English as Demon Slayer. He is a highly skilled swordsman who holds the rank of Water Hashira within the Demon Slayer Corps, and he is recognised as one of the strongest active members of the organisation. His appearance is distinctive: he wears the standard Demon Slayer uniform with gold buttons, layered beneath a haori that combines two contrasting fabric patterns, and he keeps his black hair tied in a long, low ponytail. His demeanour is calm, reserved and often expressionless, which gives him a distant, serious air that other characters frequently comment on. Fan artists are drawn to his quiet stoicism, his flowing haori and ponytail, and the contrast between his composed face and the dynamic poses he strikes while wielding his katana. Scenes of him standing silently in the rain or mid-swing with his blade are especially popular subjects for illustration.
