Hong Meiling Rule 34
Hong Meiling is a youkai who serves as the gatekeeper of the Scarlet Devil Mansion in the Touhou Project series, first appearing as a boss in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. She is a practitioner of Chinese martial arts and is recognizable by her long orange or red hair styled in twin braids with green bows, blue eyes, and a green beret bearing the Chinese character for "dragon." Her outfit includes a green vest over a white collared shirt with puffy sleeves, a green skirt over white pants, and black flats. In fan works, she is often depicted as lazy or ineffective at her job, frequently scolded by Sakuya Izayoi, though canon portrays her as competent and friendly with colleagues. Fans also associate her with dragons due to her hat's symbol and the name Hong, and sometimes portray her as a panda. Her nickname "China" stems from early fandom debates over her name's reading. Fan artists frequently focus on her martial arts poses, her relationship with Sakuya, and her dragon or panda motifs.
